When the cat felt the dog was in proximity, she slowly opened one eye, yawned a little, and closed it again as if everything was fine. She was peaceful, not disturbed at all by the size of the Golden Retriever or his right to be on the bed. The cat seemed to decide that this was her spot too, and she was not going anywhere.
A Gentle Giant’s Dilemma
The Golden Retriever didn’t know what to do. Should he bark? Should he try to retrieve his bed? But he did not know how to react when he looked down at the little kitten. He was so happy and so easy with his simple existence. After all, this was his bed, so how could he wake up a small innocent creature like this one? He slowly lay down alongside the bed, placing his head on the edge so he would see the slumbering kitten. There was certainly room for both of them, he thought. Instead of complaining, though, the dog appeared to like the new setup. He would edge back, allowing space for the kitten, and sometimes could only keep a small corner of the bed. It was comical watching the big Golden Retriever curl up tight to avoid wakening the kitten who had commandeered his bed. The Golden Retriever seemed to not care one bit that someone else was in charge. The family laughed and was happy as it witnessed these interactions.
